Every two years, the Tennessee Department of Transportation and Keep Tennessee Beautiful recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and programs across the state for their creativity and dedication to engage fellow Tennesseans to take greater responsibility for their community environments.

This year marks the 25th anniversary of KTnB. As a result, the theme of the 2009 TDOT/KTnB Awards of Excellence is “Twenty Five Years of Improving the World Around Us”.

Special events will honor the history of KTnB, which began in 1983.

As usual, the TDOT/KTnB Awards of Excellence program will recognize and celebrate the hard work and achievements of Tennesseans determined to improve their local environment and sustain a positive community image. This will be presented at a dinner banquet that will be held February 12, 2009.

All are invited to join in this prestigious competition. We encourage any individual, group, organization, school, government, business and media involved in litter prevention projects, community enhancement or solid waste handling to complete an application. Category winners will receive $1,000 to $3,000 award grants, plaques and certificates.
