we are currently replacing first generation, 4' linear fluorescent lighting systems with the most-current third generation of lighting. As a result we will have a large number of electronic ballasts and lamps (not the fixtures themselves) available for reuse. Here are the particulars: * Ballasts are electronic, drive 2 to 4 lamps per ballast, do not contain PCBs and are considered universal, not toxic, waste * Lamps are 4' in length and while all fluorescent lamps have a little mercury, they are also considered universal waste * Most ballasts are 6 years old with a continued life expectancy of 8-10 years * Lamps have reached about half their rated life of 20,000 hours * There are no guarantees on the equipment; however, we have found 95%+ of all equipment is fully functional * An average of 20,000 ballasts and 60,000 lamps need to be processed per month for the next two years * The change-outs are taking place in the southern California region and the buyer has the responsibility of picking up the equipment; we would expect weekly or bi-weekly pick-ups * Payment for equipment is due before or at pick-up and is to take place in the United States in U.S. dollars Given the remaining life expectancy of this fully-functional equipment, we very much desire that this material be re-used and not just recycled, and request your bids reflect that.
